Crispy Mongolian Beef Wraps

This is a different, yet delicious way to enjoy Lamb, you don’t necessarily have to have it in a sauce, grilled, or in form of a curry. If you are dieting, you can use Wheat Tortillas rather than the normal ones and you can also grill the meat instead of frying it. This way no one is missing out! Hehehe ;). I wanted to try something new with Lamb so I made these delicious wraps…. Do enjoy!!!! 🙂

Ingredients

Lamb Fillet
Tortillas
Salt
Black Pepper
Lemon Juice (Half Lemon)
Knorr Cubes
Chilli Flakes
Scotch Bonnet
Fresh Coriander
Olive Oil
Hoison Sauce
Chinese Five-Spice Powder
1 Tablespoon of Light Soy Sauce
1 Spring Onion, Finely Chopped
1 Sichuan Peppercorns tablespoon
1 Tablespoon Freshly Grated Root Ginger
2 Cloves of Garlic
Cornflour

To Serve

Cucumber Strips
Spring Onion Slices
Iceberg Lettuce, Torn Into Shreds
Hoisin sauce

Put all the ingredients for the marinade into a bowl with the Lamb and mix well to combine. Then cover the bowl and put it the fridge, let it marinate for at least 20 minutes, or overnight if possible. Preheat the oven to 140ºC/275ºF/ gas mark 1, then put the tortillas or fajitas in to warm through for a few mins. Heat a wok over a high heat and fill it up to about a quarter with oil. When the oil is hot enough. Lightly coat the lamb pieces in cornflour; then, fry it until its nice and crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. (May sure the heat is not too high, just high enough).

To serve, place some crispy lamb in a tortilla, add some cucumber strips, spring onion and lettuce, spoon over some hoisin sauce and eat.

I made my own Hoisin Sauce so here’s the recipe…..:)

Hoisin Sauce Recipe

4 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
2 Tablespoons Smooth Peanut Butter
1 Tablespoon Dark Brown Sugar
2 Teaspoons Vinegar
1 Garlic Clove, Minced
2 Teaspoons Sesame Seed Oil
1 Teaspoon of Hot Sauce or 1
Black Pepper

Method

Combine all the ingredients and blitz together until smooth…..It’s thats simple! Bon Appétit!!!! 🙂
